I would purchase a new set of the World Almanac for Kids every year and use the snot out of that book to teach library skills through PowerPoint games like Jeopardy, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Hollywood Squares or just some silly game I would make up. My students could use the table of contents and index in record time and they loved finding the facts because The World Almanac for Kids is full of facinating information children love.
Have you ever had a class come in and BEG to play Jeopardy? It was utterly awesome.
I would auction off the old books that were tattered and worn, for chocolate!
Clubhouse Magazines is giving away a copy of The World Almanac for Kids 2014!
