I have an amazing opportunity coming up and really NEED your opinion.
What item(s) would make your life easier in the classroom.
Please DO NOT include technology. We all know there aren’t enough computers or software in most classrooms.
Think, headphones, dice, games, manipulatives, furniture anything that would help you and your students to be successful. If you have a link to that item, all the better.
I NEED your input….trust me, it will be heard by some VIPs!
I just can’t tell you anymore 🙂
Give it to me, anything and everything, but remember, NO technology.
Respond in the comments please.
THANK YOU!!!
Anything that makes quick, mobile learning centers. If you go to http://www.demco.com, and in the search box put in “offi side table” you will see a really neat idea for tight spaces.
The link above leads you to Demco and the small stools that also can serve as side tables. The bonus is the little storage underneath it. These would be ideal in the classroom, but also in the library where space is tight. Also needed are rugs of every size! Oftentimes, cords, Ethernet cables, etc. are run under the rugs so they stay out of the way. In addition, they serve as a focal area for classrooms and in the library.Thank you!!Tracy Blunier
Thanks so much Tracy. Sounds like you could really use some of those cord tunnel thingies. I have no idea what they are called.
I would love to have differentiated workbooks, reading workbooks and math workbooks. I would also love to have new desks and chairs for my students or kidney shaped tables so that I could work with each group.
Love this list Tracy! If there are any specific workbooks, come back and let us know.
I would love to get the common core differentiated reading for comprehension books for grades 1-3. I teach 2nd grade but I like to have varied levels for all of my learners. I also like the math, reading and language arts common Core-aligned books from Carson-Dellosa.
I would love fidget items, sensory items, foam blocks, items for centers for preschool level, pocket charts and wet erase markers.
Workbooks or theme books geared towards preschool age. I teach a special education kindergarten class so I am always looking for materials that will work from a toddler level up to a first grade in some cases level.
Headphones that will actually fit a small child’s head and I don’t know if this counts as technology but Leapfrog products such as Tag junior or the early learning leapfrog products.
Materials for a reading nook such as a comfy plush rug and pillows or something similar.
Books!!!
Oh, Courtney….love the “fidget items” Thanks so much for being very specific with the items, this will help tremendously. If you have links or examples, come back and add them. The more info the better.
I would love to have desks and chairs for my classroom! The desks and chairs in my classroom came from an older school when our school was built about 25 years ago! My desks and chairs are all sizes and colors. I teach 3rd grade and my kids would love nice desks and chairs to enjoy . I would also love a nice bookshelf! Thanks in advance if you can help us!
Hi Micki,
It seems, especially now, desks are around schools for decades and should be replaced. With the budget cuts, the “make do” attitude is everywhere. It is amazing how attitudes among students (and staff) would improve with new (pretty and comfy) furniture.
Thanks!!!
Penny
I would love to have tables and chairs for my classroom. My current chairs wobble and my table all have chipped paint and wobble too!

I am a school counselor (K-6) and I would love counseling-related board games that teach social skills. They are so expensive — usually $50 each and I receive absolutely no budget. I spent $994 dollars out of my own pocket on educational expenses last year!!…I just can’t drop $50 for a game. I try to make as many of my own games as I can, but let’s face it, they just aren’t as appealing to students as a “formal” commercialized game. Since students enjoy playing games it is a great way to also incorporate the skills we are working on in counseling.
I completely understand Tanya. Would you provide links to examples of games?
It won’t let me…I keep getting an error that I have “too many URL’s in my comment”. Sorry….
Hi! I teach preschool and boy do I have a big wish list! I would like paints(liquid tempera), a block storage system, a 4 way teach and store center, science discovery chest, giant sand timers, all purpose classroom balance, liquid measurement kit, and the question of the day chart kit. These are all from lakeshore. It wouldn’t let me put in URLs (apparently I had too many). Thank you for all you do!
Hi Kelly,
Evidently there is some set limitt on URL’s for spam purposes. Some techie thing. Would you please email me the links?

I’d love to have some comfy chairs for my classroom. We have a few plastic ones and then some old wooden ones that are awful on the kids when we have 90 minute blocks. I saw these stretchy chair things at target a few months ago and were hoping they’d go on sale but now it looks like they’re gone. Something that folds up or can stack would be so much better because I have a tiny room and I wouldn’t want the students always sitting in them but for part of each day it would be great.
I would love to get 10 desks with a stool and leg swing that are designed for students with ADHD. We are a K-3 building and many of our students, especially boys can not sit at desks. These desks with the swinging bar and stool allow for the movement so many kids need today. One manufacturer calls them the AlphaBetter desk. They are approximately $550.00 each.
Here is a link to you tube video that shows the desk in action: youtube.com/watch?v
