Students keep asking to listen to the album as we complete our work throughout the day. Well, we decided to embed the “We Love Disney” album into our lessons because….a teacher can’t let a “teachable moment” escape!
Everyone has a favorite and not everyone agrees. Students interviewed each other asking which song they most wanted to hear and why. That’s it, two questions! Results were then graphed as each student reported their findings.
- NE-YO “Friend Like Me” from Aladdin
- Ariana Grande “Zero to Hero” from Hercules
- Fall Out Boy “I Wan’na Be Like You (The Monkey Song) from The Jungle Book
Analyzing our findings, we realized that students selected upbeat, faster music for closing out the day yet the beginning of the next part of their day. We wondered, would students selections be different given a different scenario. We hit the interviews again asking what song students would like to listen to as we begin our day. Our results were very different!
- Gwen Stafani “The Rainbow Connection” from The Muppet Movie
- Tori Kelly “Colors of the Wind” from Pocahontas
- Lucy Hale & Rascal Flatts “Let It Go” from Frozen
We even located a video of NE-YO to play while we gather our personal items as we prepare to end our school day!
Everything done in the classroom eventually trickles home. Parents were contacting the teacher asking where they could purchase the album. Parents were informed that, I participated in the We Love Disney album review program as a member of One2One Network. I was provided an album to review but all opinions are my own. The album will be released Oct 30!
For now, we provided our families with these links from Disney to listen to the music.
- iTunes: We Love Disney
- Amazon: We Love Disney
