I tried to talk to the managers of the local theaters to donate movie posters to advertise reading the book and seeing the movie for students and parents. Nothing like a little movie hype to encourage reading.
Encourage the little (and not so little) readers to read the book, then watch the movie. You might try partnering with the local theater for a school viewing of the film on a certain night as a fundraiser. Creating family involvement just might lead to more readers, more parental involvement in school activities!
