How many times are you stuck inside due to the weather and must have recess in your classroom? I have a fantastic fun solution from Upside Down Games.
Yoga Spinner is actually created for 2-4 players, creative teachers will project the spinner using the classroom document camera, then place the selected card for students to perform and hold the yoga pose for 10 seconds. Perfect for P.E. classes!
Get the entire class moving with a simple spin. Assign roles, a spinner, a card turn-er (is that a word?), a student to demonstrate, and a timer. Students will love learning the different Yoga poses! Turn Yoga into a research assignment! The packaging of the game was so well thought out. The entire game is kept in the compact case! Notice the little corners that keep the cards and the directions neat and tidy!
We have a blast with the Yoga Spinner! We did have to consult the directions when the spinner landed on an image we hadn’t hit before. When we had not landed on all of the spaces available on the spinner, we had to “make” the spinner land on that space.
Yoga Spinner will do more than get those wiggles out of students, it is quite funny trying to get into the pose. We would erupt in laughter as one would “fall” out of the pose. Then of course, getting INTO the pose was just as comical at times. The white cards are poses created for pairs. Although we tried like crazy to complete just one, the giggles inevitably stopped us from success!
You all know that my test subjects are my nephew (age 8) and niece (age 6). We must work on our flexibility using the Yoga Spinner game. She is so tiny she couldn’t keep herself in the pose long enough for the picture. Don’t they look like they are enjoying themselves? Imagine a classroom full of kiddos!
Better yet, how about a faculty meeting! NOW, that would be funny!
After playing the first time, we had to make them stop to have dinner. These two are SO programmed to my system of testing out products which we keep until they decide what teacher at their school should be given the product this time. Yoga Spinner is still in our possession at this point, but eventually find classroom to call home.
The kind folks at Upside Down Games provided Yoga Spinner so that we could provide Penniless Teacher readers with an honest opinion.
In addition, Upside Down Games is giving away one Yoga Spinner game.
