With the approach of cold weather, going outside is not an option for many who live North of us here in Florida. We know how much a teacher LOVES to have recess indoors! NOT! Upside Down Games has a unique solution for those days. Enter Yogi Cards. These sturdy cards will get kids moving and stretching and probably lots of giggles. Students won’t even realize they are doing physical activity meeting some standard imposed by some governing body (said sarcastically)
Although there are directions for the game, teachers may create a classroom version that includes the entire class. Place the cards under your document camera where students see the pose and hear the explanation as you read. Let students take turns reading and demonstrating for a little academic practice slipped in. Our third grade teacher tester informed us that students now ask to “play” Yogi Cards!
Personally, I think these would be fantastic to begin using in the classroom now building the skills and strength students need in order to focus on the standardized tests. Like this post if you would welcome a set of Yogi Cards for your classroom.
