We teach students to read aloud for so many reasons.  Comprehension improves when students HEAR what they are reading as well as see what they are reading.  Eventually, we read silently.  Although, I have to admit the only way I could understand Shakespeare was to read aloud numerous times!

A class set of Toobaloo WITH the headband would accelerate comprehension.  I LOVE the headband on these!  This has FIRST GRADE TEACHERS written all over it!
