Disney just announced a KILLER video contest for students ages 8 – 17 to attend the LA premier of the new movie Big Hero 6 and walk the red carpet and the best part in my opinion go behind the scenes of Walt Disney Animation Studios. The music on the movie website is AMAZING!
The XprizeChallenge Think Big Win Big contest asks students to “Think of a big idea that uses science, technology, engineering or math, to make the world a better place. Create a one to three minute video explaining the big idea. In other words: What one problem would you tackle to change the world and how would you do it?”
After parental consent is received, upload the video. The XPrize judges will select the twenty finalists to proceed to public voting take place Oct 15 – Oct 19. Once again going to S.T.E.A.M judges, the winning 6 video (and kids) will be selected and announced.
THE SIX Winners Receive:
- Walk the Red Carpet at the Hollywood Premier of Disney’s Big Hero 6
- Meet the filmmakers on a private VIP tour of Disney Animation Studios
- Private VIP tour at Walt Disney Imagineering
- Experience innovatiove first-hand at XPrize Headquarters
- Special LittleBits NASA Space Kit and CloudBit Starter Kit
- Free registration in the 2015 First Lego League Competition
Insert Penniless Teacher Opinion:
Hey XPrize/Disney, include a teacher reward portion in your educational challenges. The same prize package should be given to the teachers of the winning students…just sayin’. I’m happy to act as an adviser! (k—I’m done now).
Share with and encourage your students to get started on the challenge as time is short on this contest. Entries are due Oct 12, 2014 at 11:59pm PT. I’m including the link to the official rules, as it took me a while to track it down.
As always, let us know if your student(s) makes it to the public voting phase so we can vote!
