The Playground is GONE!

My nephew was telling me about going to school Monday morning to find the play ground EMPTY.  As in GONE!  I thought, that’s horrible, how in the world could someone possible STEAL a playground?  Not something you can conceal easily, right?
As I question my sister, the school had submitted a work order to fix something on the playground.  Upon arrival, the playground was deemed a hazard to the safety of the children and removed it!  Unbelievable!
We all know the financial situations all schools are in and this school is no different.  There is no money for a new playground.  That means fundraising!  My mission is to locate playground grants or funding!  Playgrounds are NOT cheap, plus, I think you have to hire the proper contractors to install.
This is new territory for me, but that is my mission since both my nephew and niece attend this school.  So you’ll see more posts for that type of grant/funding.  If you see something, or have experience in this area, I WELCOME your input!

Anyone else in the same situation?  It’s just horrible!

When I started teaching at my present school the playground was so sad. They had the stairs to no where and one swing on the six swing, swing set. Over the last three years we have applied for grants and gave plenty of dances, but we have a playground. My suggestion would be to go over the smaller grants, before the larger grants. We were able to receive a couple small grants that resulted in a big result. I would be happy to answer any questions that you may have.

    Hi Meagan,

Do you remember what those grants were?

    Thanks,
    Penny
