Gifts . Teacher receive all kinds. What do you do with all of the gifts, especially after the first few years.
A teacher in our school had a mother in a nursing home and was telling us how sad it was to visit her mother on Christmas and see so many residents with no family and not a single gift to open.
As a staff, we decided to save the gifts teachers received to donate to the residents of the home. It did not matter what the gift was, it was the joy we saw in the eyes of each of the residents!
What do you do with the gifts from students? If you prefer to remain anonymous, send me an email or private message. I’ll post without identification.

Tanya says
The most touching gift I ever received was one I was eager to throw away. I first started teaching on an Indian reservation where most of my students lived in poverty. One sweet girl gave me a yellow chiffon curtain (for my house, she said). It was badly stained and reeked of cigarette smoke, but I knew that it was one of the only things she had to give, and so she either asked her mom or just took it from her house to give to me, her teacher. I’ve never forgotten that. I also received a 1/2 filled bottle of perfume that year and a broken figurine….both from students that I knew was the best they had to give. While I threw all of those things away, I keep the memories in my heart.
