Smart-Fab doesn’t rip or tear like paper! I hear cheering. Smart-Fab is easier to work with than fabric for arts and crafts in a classroom. Students can cut the Smart-Fab with their student scissors, but it does cut better the sharper the scissors. Smart-Fab is available in these 12″x 18″ sheets that we used, or a roll for larger decorative projects, which I may need to finish off my project. Smart-Fab doesn’t fray like fabric, so no hemming is required.
We were thrilled to receive the rainbow of colors in the package from Smart-Fab, and were SO tempted to tie a string around the middle of the entire package to make one big beautiful giant pompom to hang in the classroom. It would have been so pretty.
Hands-on concrete activities are used so much in the lower grade levels. After reading Pete the Cat, our kindies received a Smart-Fab t-shirt where addition and subtraction skills were practiced and reinforced. Now we can’t just do one activity, we have to tie in as many lessons into one as possible. Colors were practiced and reinforced by adding 2 yellow buttons, or subtracting one orange button and we couldn’t forget about the holes in the buttons! Although our main lesson was math, what teacher would take advantage of multiple concrete lessons in one?
We’re skirting Halloween with our Super Hero Masks!
Thanks to Google, we found easy black line masters of masks HERE. Then it was simply pin/cut.
The breath-ability of the Smart-Fab makes our super hero masks lightweight and cooler than a mask made from normal fabric, foam or plastic. After adding an elastic band, our masks are hands free and we don’t have a costume, only a super hero mask for our super hero themed party that just so happens to be scheduled for Oct 31, 2014. This is where rolls of Smart-Fab would come in handy to make CAPES!
