Three grants are available from Action for Healthy Kids ranging from $1,000 – $5,000. Approximately 400 schools nationwide will receive grants.

1. School Breakfast Program Creation or Expansion Grants
2. Universal School breakfast Grant – $5,000
3. Physical Activity Grants – select states may apply including AL, DC/MD, GA, IL, IN, KY, OH, PA, & WV

I want to focus on the Physical Activity Grant since teachers may apply.  Schools with 50% of students eligible for free/reduced meals may receive priority.  The goal of the grant is to increase physical activity 30 minutes per day.  Funds may be used for equipment for playground, recess and before/after school programs.  Grants are for the 2013-14 school year.
