As a teacher, do you blog for your classroom? Maybe you have a school website with a secure page for the parents of your students. Do you encourage your students to blog or create a classroom blog?
I am so moved by a young blogger named Erik (age 11) who is blogging and reading to earn AR points to raise money for a friend, Renn, who has epilepsy. This is truely reading for a cause.
Encourage your students to read for a cause. Piggyback off of Erik in his Reading for Renn campaign where your students donate to Renn. With the holidays rapidly approaching, read for canned food, read for pet food, read for a local charity.
Erik has a fantastic idea with a heart full of giving. Read Erik’s blog post to your class. Students will want to help someone while improving their own reading skills.
Hats off to Erik!
