Product Spotlight .@Fellowes Laminator (X 9/10/14)

One tool that teachers use above all other industries is a laminator!  We laminate everything to make it last because we spend our own money on products that need to live as long as possible.  Most schools have the MONSTER laminator, but what do you do when you need one or two items laminated?

Using the MONSTER laminator for small jobs is a royal pain.  Time is spent waiting for the laminator to heat up and to be perfectly frank, small jobs present more waste than product.

Fellowes sent us the Neptune3 125 Laminator to test in our classroom(s).  We did not have any problem recruiting volunteer teacher testers.  Our school has a “pod” area, a common area accessible by all teachers where shared items may be located.

We asked our teachers to use the Fellowes Neptune3 125 Laminator for small or last minute laminating needed on the fly.  Let me just say, I will NEVER see the laminator again!  I think it is now NAILED to the counter.

Teachers were surprised with the weight of the Neptune3 125 Laminator.  It is heaver than other desktop laminators, but not so heavy that it cannot be portable allowing teachers to take it home for projects (after prying the nails from the counter).

TIME SAVER was the key concept our teachers rave about.  Our Neptune3 125 Laminator heats up FAST (1 minute) with the InstaHeat Technology feeding 24″ per minute.  Teachers indicated the feed speed was significantly faster than the school MONSTER laminator.

Raise your hand if you started laminating, and were interrupted by a phone call or visitor, only to return to the smell of a HOT laminator?  Yep, we’re all in that club.  It happens ALL the time.  When teachers returned to the laminating job after an interruption, they were SHOCKED to find the Neptune3 125 Laminator auto shut-off kicked in.  Heavy sighs all around because now teachers had to wait for the laminator to warm-up.  NO–with the 1 minute InstaHeat technology, teachers were back in business quickly.

Students are creating their first book of the school year.  Teachers decided to let students laminate their own book cover utilizing the COLD laminating feature of the Neptune3 125 Laminator.  Caution and safety should be at the top of the list when allowing student use.  Pride in writing and illustrating first their “book” included laminating!  Feeding the pouched paper straight was the challenge, but with the reverse mode, students could remove the cover to realign and proceed topping off their masterpiece with the perfect cover.

The “exit tray” catching the finished product from the laminator was a BIG HIT.  Little things make an impact on teachers.  We really don’t ask for much.
