Reading for many is a chore needing all the encouragement one can muster to get a child through just one book.  Others are entirely self motivated reading books at break neck speed.  Now is the time to start your school summer reading campaign and Scholastic is offering a program filled with rewards for students, teachers and the entire school.

Teachers who pre-register through June 30, 2015 are entered to win a free classroom library of 50 books

The Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge begins in less than a month!  YIKES!  Students begin May 4, 2015 with the challenge ending Sept 4, 2015.  How many minutes will each student add to the total number of minutes read for the school to win?  Show the Summer Reading Challenge video during a faculty meeting encouraging classroom participation.  Better yet, if you have a morning news show, this is perfect for kicking off the challenge for your school.

Remind parents and students to read and participate through the school website, PTO website, any social media accounts specific to your school.  The more you drill it into them, they might read.

Scholastic provides messages to parents in English and Spanish along with other promotional materials for schools to print and distribute.

Tracking begins May 4 where students may unlock a variety of games and activities that I’m trying to con Scholastic into letting me preview so I can tell you all about it!
