I spent a few years of my childhood in Kentucky where we would visit the popcorn fields after they had been harvested to pick up as much of the ears that were missed.  Of course we had permission from the farmer to do this!  We then had popcorn shucking contests to see who could get the popcorn OFF the ear the fastest.  I cannot tell you the BLISTERS we all had!  You would think one would NOT like popcorn after that experience, but I still LOVE popcorn!
