Children beg for pets in the classroom.  The burden of purchase usually falls on the teacher.  Teachers may receive a classroom pet through the Pets in the Classroom grant program.

Pets offer so much for classrooms, learning the responsibility of taking care of and providing for the pet, a companion, endless science lessons, reading, writing and everything in between.

Select the pet retailer in your area to apply.  Some specify selection of one of the following pet options, but not all.  Choose: bearded dragon, gerbil, hamster, guinea pig, mouse, fish, leopard gecko, corn snake, or ball python.

After initial grant award, teachers are then eligible for the SUSTAINING grant.

Note:  Some grants go quickly while others may be available for the entire school year.
