Certified classroom teachers Pre-K – 12 employed full time in an accredited U.S. school(or DOD School) are eligible to apply for the 2013 People Teacher of the Year.

Application should include your achievements as a teacher, the school in which you work, the specific needs of your student population and how you have met or exceeded them.  See examples in the application.

FIVE winners will be selected by People editors along with a panel of advisors from the education community. One Reader’s Choice winner determined by public vote on People.com.

The six winning teachers (or teams) plus one guest will receive:

• Trip to the Teacher of the Year Awards Luncheon in Oct 2013 to NYC (includes airfare and hotel.
• $4,000 cash donation toward their school
• $1,000 cash prize
• Feature in People magazine
