As a stress reliever, I headed to Office Depot to spend a few pennies on the one cent deals this week. Remember, if you are a Star Teacher Rewards member, you are allowed 4 times the posted limits. So here I am reminding you about 4 times the limit and I couldn’t remember if it was 3 or 4 while in the store.
At the register, I asked the clerk who reminded me. A manager walked by and told me I could get as many as I want. I questioned him, “REALLY?” He said “we have to get rid of them.” Well, you know me, I headed back to the display and started counting and pulling up TeacherLists on my phone to check what color folders teachers needed. All the time, I’m thinking to myself, this poor guy doesn’t know WHO he told to take as many as you need!
The manager came by and asked how many I was going to get. I think he was shocked at my answer of “50 per color.” He simply replied, okay. Then a young man brought me a cart! So accommodating!
I ended up with 400, yes, that is correct, FOUR HUNDRED folders because I didn’t realize there were pocket folders with and without prongs.
I highly suggest making friends with the management of the store!
I did notice that Office Depot is beginning to mark school supplies clearance, so if you have a store close by, it could be worth stopping in everyday for a quick check.
- 12 pencil boxes
- 400 2 pocket folders with and without prongs
- Total spent: $4.16
Printed on the receipt: “Total Office Depot Savings:” $308.16
It is worth a few minutes to stop into your local office supply store for the CHEAP BackToSchool sales.
