Put the writings of your students to work for your classroom bottom line.
Only teachers may enter the contest, BUT, only students can create the entries. Students create passages, either individually, or in groups, in one of 4 categories:
- Adventure
- Drama
- Science Fiction
- Expository
Teachers may submit one writing per child per category. That’s your class number X 4 entries! If you have 25 students enter one writing in each category, that is a total of 100 entries for the teacher! Cha-ching….we hope!
Entries are grouped in the following categories:
- Grades 1-3
- Grades 4-6
- Grades 7-9
Entries are judged by guest judges AND online public vote. You know what that means….post for votes in Penniless Teacher Facebook Forum.
Read all of the entry rules so you aren’t disqualified.
Prizes:
Grades 1-3 prize package includes:

Grade 4-6 prize package includes:

- Approximate Total Prize Value: $5,116
Grade 7-9 prize package includes:
- SRA Reading Labs 2.0 class set for a full year
- iPad for classroom use
- Specific Skills Series for Language Arts
- Glencoe Literature Set
- SRA Science Laboratory.
- Approximate Total Prize Value: $4,943
