@MathMovesU Build It Better Contest (X 4/16/14)

Raytheon is kicking off Engineers Week (#eweek2014) with the opening of the Build It Better Contest.  Students are challenged to find something in their school that they can improve by building it better.  Teachers submit a 2 minute video on behalf of students by April 16, 2014.  Promote the video for the public voting period of May 1 – 15, 2014.

The concept to Build It Better does not need to be elaborate.  Students see something that they can fix, create a video explaining how they would use math and engineering skills to create the better version.

Last Year’s Winners:

  • 1st Place:  Jonathon’s creative idea for fixing long lunch lines ($2,000 grant for his school)
  • 2nd place:  Three high schoolers’ one swipe whiteboard ($1,000 grant for school)
  • 3rd Place: Liam’s vandalism & precipitation proof bike rack ($500 grant for school)
