I would “Like” Facebook to stop messing with what they think I want to see in my feed from the pages I have liked. This may seem to be a foreign concept to Facebook, but when I like a page or person, I want to see everything in my feed. Liking a page is a personal decision, I–as in ME, choose to like the page because of something I saw on that page. Why, after I like the page do you (Facebook), get to determine what I do or do not see in my newsfeed?
I have seen statistics all over the web that a person does not see 80% of the content from “liked” pages or people. Why in it’s infinite wisdom does Facebook think it is okay to choose what I see? Newsflash Facebook, you–or should I say your algorithm–has no idea what I want to see! Clearly if I like a page or person I want to see 100% of the posts in my newsfeed. If I don’t want to see bits and pieces of a person’s newsfeed, such as games, I’ll change the settings myself!
On the other hand, the PAGES I have liked are vitally important to me. I want to see 100% of the feed! But, NO, the almighty Facebook will not provide patrons with the information we have subscribed to so thoughtfully.
As Penniless Teacher on Facebook, rarely do I receive the information I have asked for. I have even gone so far as to like every single thing posted by the numerous pages I like. SHOCKED doesn’t even cover what I felt when I received “you are using the like button that could result in closing your account.” Are you freakin’ kidding me? Statistics also show that the more a person likes posts, the more the information shows in their personal newsfeed. I can’t win!
As I started visiting each page I like (a ginormous list), I realize the blasted default view for Facebook is the highlighted items, not ALL items posted! With that realization, I began to highlight each and every posted item on Penniless Teacher hoping to alleviate some of the aggravation for readers.
Punt to plan B. As myself, Penny, I created categories or lists (not sure which is the correct term). Let me tell you, these categories are much better at delivering the information I seek. At times, I do not select the correct “persona” when sharing a post as Penniless Teacher from Penny’s account. It is SO confusing!
Although my experimental methods have not 100% satisfied my need for information, it is better. Is there a method to receive 100% of the information? I haven’t found it yet. I have subscribed to every email feed available from my liked pages. Please subscribe to Penniless Teacher email updates that are delivered at 5pm ET daily.
Have you experienced the same issues? What do you do to “try” to receive 100% of the information you seek from pages you have liked? Do you visit Penniless Teacher Facebook page? Do you subscribe to Penniless Teacher daily email? How do you ensure you see everything posted?
