Challenge runs from June 24 (today) through August 1, 2013.  Each Monday at 9am PST, a new prompt will be posted along with the Common Core standard associated with the prompt.

Create your entry of 400 words or less.  You must include the beginning and ending line provided without changing  anything.  The sentences must appear in your story EXACTLY as written in the weekly prompt.

Entries must be received by 5pm PST the following Thursday and include your name  and mailing address to writingprompt@lessonplanet.com
