KleenSlate Concepts Product Spotlight (X 8/31/14)

Penniless Teacher was provided the product, but our opinion is own own.

Green has been a trending buzz word for a few years now. I receive communications from teachers daily asking for wipe off boards to save on paper.

Many teachers make their own wipe off boards with products from the big home stores. Surprisingly, schools in Florida do not want teachers using those products because insects (specifically roaches) are attracted to the glues or something used to make the product. KleenSlate is made of PLASTIC! I’ve not heard that any insect is attracted to plastic. PLUS, in an effort to save money, schools turn off the air conditioning over the summer creating moisture in the other product causing damage. Not to the plastic KleenSlate!

KleenSlate Concepts is the GREEN answer teachers have been looking for. These are not just a wipe off board! The dual sided KleenSlate paddles are a “normal” blank write on/wipe off board on one side. Flip the board over to reveal a clear KleenSleeve to insert any template for students to use. The paddles arrive with a card stock template of primary writing lines while the other side is a graph template.

Create your own template or download one of these from the KleenSlate website:

  1. Ten Frame
  2. Double Ten Frame
  3. Divided into 4
  4. Venn Diagram
  5. True/False & Yes/No
  6. Map of the USA
  7. Map of the Planets
  8. XY Graph
  9. Oval with 4 squares
  10. 9 Swuares
  11. Hundreds Chart
  12. Circles
  13. Story Board
  14. Number Line to 100

Who else besides an educator (Julie Rhodes) would come up with such a versatile classroom item?  Clearly a teacher, Julie added elements that teachers LOVE.  The handle of the KleenSlate paddle provides handy little clips to hold the included marker.  Not letting ANY space go unusable, Julie added an eraser to the cap of the marker.

Then, knowing the little eraser might not cut it for all students, attached a ring to the bottom of the handle to hold a cloth eraser.  Easily remove the cloth to toss into the washer and dryer!

KleenSlate paddles are great for whole class instruction, group work, or for individual practice in every subject.  Create centers for younger students that can be cleaned up with a quick wipe of the board.

Teachers will find optional uses for students with a variety of impairments creating independent confident students.

Who has KleenSlate paddles?  Tell us how you use them in your classroom.  Your comments will help other teachers, so hit is with a comment!
