Last day to enter…..
I’ve seen my share of encyclopedia sets over the years, and purchased more sets than I can count in my tenure as an elementary school librarian. There is NO encyclopedia that compares to the appealing layout of a set of World Book encyclopedias for students.
Do you have a story about the World Book encyclopedia? Could be any story, any time in your life. A story about the classic print World Book, and I’m assuming the new online edition as well.
Submitting the story seems like just a formality since winners are selected at random., but does earn you bonus entries.

My entry story (TRUE STORY):
As a child in the early 70s (GASP), my siblings and I used a 1955 set of encyclopedias to research school projects. One day, the World Book salesman knocked on our door. After several visits with my mother and father, we suddenly received a brand new set of World Book encyclopedias. We didn’t know how this AWESOME set of books had found it way into our home, nor did we care. We could be found reading the encyclopedia for the remainder of our childhood. We especially LOVED the clear overlay of the human body muscular and skeletal pages!
How did we get so lucky to house this amazing set of books? In her infinite money saving problem solving skills, my mother became a rep for World Book so we could experience and use a NEW set of World Book Encyclopedias. Today after more years than any of us want to admit, we still talk about mom selling ONE set of World Book encyclopedias—-to herself!
