Gingerbread Girls

One thing we found fascinating when first arriving in Florida from the mid-west (beside the wonderful weather) are holiday activities.  The area where we live hosts several holiday parades where schools, community organizations, and businesses participate.

The theme of the parade this year is:  Bright Lights, Holiday Delights

We’re members of Adventure Maidens, a group for mothers and daughters learning life skills both indoor and outdoor.  To promote our group, we’re participating in the parade.  Moms will be decked out as bakers while the girls will be real life gingerbread girls. Holiday Delights of gingerbread are a staple in our household.

Gingerbread girls come to life

with brown t-shirts, felt, rolls of tulle, elastic and silver leggings.

A simple loop of 30 inch strip of tulle over the elastic creates the skirt.  We used ten strips of brown, red, and white tulle to give the skirt dimension.

Buttons were created by cutting felt into circles

White fabric paint added the finishing touches to the neck and sleeves.
