Gingerbread Felt Activity

 

If you build it they will come…..

 

We wanted to create an interactive creative play area to engage student learning and dramatic play.  With a package of felt squares from Oriental Trading, we set out to create a Gingerbread House to go along with our study of gingerbread related books.  Folding a piece of brown felt in half to draw the cutting line created our gingerbread house quickly!

Creating “snow” for our gingerbread involved cutting white felt.

Enlisting cookie cutters gave us symmetry.

Setting the scene

Our completed Gingerbread Felt board is a magnet for kiddos.  As we progress through the season, students are creating additions to the felt board.  Felt and scissors are present at the easel encouraging students to put their touch on the ever changing  storyboard.

 The first item created by the kids was a star for the Christmas Tree.  We can’t wait to see what they will create to add more charm.
