Students are accustomed to evaluations by parents, teachers, coaches, and other adults constantly. How do you think students would feel about turning the tables on adults, REALLY SMART ADULTS? If you are a teacher of 5th or 6th grade students, this is something students will enjoy and learn from.
The Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science challenges scientists to communicate complex science in a way that is INTERESTING and ENLIGHTENING to an 11-year-old. The Flame Challenge solicited questions from students, finally selecting THE question for this year….What is Color?
Scientists have until Mar 1, 2014 to submit their answers. This is where you and your students come in. JUDGES are needed, but must be a classroom of 5th or 6th graders. Register your class to participate.
WOW, The Flame Challenge is an amazing opportunity for everyone who participates. I venture to say that students will remember and reference this experience for LIFE—bet you will too!
No deadline is given, but as always, the sooner, the better!
