Sometimes, I think everyone forgets how many ways reading impacts a person.  I’m talking reading books!  The joy, adventure, and sorrow of escaping into a book if only for a short time.

Demonstrate the need for better literacy tools in the Playaway Bookpacks for Literacy, The Big Fall Giveaway.  THREE stories will receive a $3,500 Bookpack Collection.  That is quite an addition to the school library program for students and teachers.  Share with your librarian and administration.

The Playaway is a small device housing the audio version of a book, the Bookpacks include the Playaway unit and the book so students may read along.   I don’t know how many books the $3,500 equates to, but any are great.

I don’t care how old students are, if you read out loud to them, they listen and they love it.  I’ve read “baby books” to high schoolers who are just as drawn in as a classroom full of second graders.  The Playaway would be a great alternative to saving your voice reading 6 or 7 periods a day because you don’t have enough books for everyone to have a copy. Can’t you just see them listening to “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus?”
