Carrie Bartlett says
The “I Can” statements would save me a TON of time!
Karen says
I would really love to have this Common Core Standards kit for my first grade classroom. We are just starting with common core next year and I think this would provide a great guideline for my students and myself. I would like to display them daily. I love the “I can” statements.
Ashley says
My objectives would be ready to go! I’d be able to pull and post them. Reuse them yearly and for review
Nicholle says
I agree! We are required to post our standards/ objectives, but this year it has been a struggle because the kids have trouble with picking out the necessary skill sets from a very wordy standard. The I CAN statements would make this a breeze! 😀
Amanda says
The kit would help me to see all of my standards in one place. The best part is the I Can.. statements. To have these on the back of the cards, would be WONDERFUL!! 🙂
Kathryn Barnum says
I agree with Carrie Bartlett! What a time saver to not have to write out I Can statements every day!
Brittany Winnie says
I have to post it as part of my agenda every day. Not having to write them on the board every day??! HOORAY! I’ve been trying to bring myself to type them all summer. These would be FANTASTIC!
Nicholle says
The CCSS Kit would save me time because each standard is broken down into kid-friendly language my students can understand. With “I can” statements, it would be easier for each student to take charge of their learning.
Chrissy Rene says
Love that Nicholle! The kids taking charge of their learning is so important!
Catherine says
This would save a lot of time by not having to create the “I can” statements & to post them so students can visually see them throughout the day.
Heather Wheale says
My current kid-friendly standards set is not actually very kid-friendly. It still uses words that are not particularly appropriate for 1st graders and it takes up a lot of room. I would love to get this resource so I don’t have to spend time this summer searching for a new set or creating one on my own!
Christa Higgs says
OH! The standards are broken down into math and LA and then by the anchor standards and math domains! That will be so easy to find the standards I want to work with. Those “I Can” statements will help with giving the students the objectives at the beginning of the lesson.
Jawana Kelson says
It would save me tons of time from not having to write them out by hand!
Vickie Miller says
We have to display in our rooms standards and I Can statements each day for what we are covering. This would save me time writing and typing each one. Plus I wouldn’t have to think up the I Can statement! Would help save me a lot of time!!
Chrissy Rene says
I would save time planning AND in introducing the students to the standards! The I can statements would save me from having to write or type objectives for each day/week! Maybe the best part- is that we will ALL be on the same page in EACH classroom! Love that!
Lindsay Wexler says
I completely agree! I have yet to think about how to introduce the kids to the standards, but this would be a great way to do that! Thanks for the idea!
Ashley Beery says
I love the “I can” statements! It is required that we post these and it would save me time from typing or writing the out.
Alma C says
These would be a great time saver since the I can statement are already written out for every standard.
Jessica Lukosavich says
They’re all together with nice pull tabs and I can statements with kid friendly language. They give you everything you need. That’s great.
Lindsay Wexler says
At my school, teachers are obligated to have a “teaching point” displayed for every lesson taught throughout the day. Due to the complex language used by the Common Core, creating “kid friendly” teaching points can be quite time consuming. This kit would afford me so much time when displaying the learning goal for the day. I could also use this to give students their own learning goals in kid friendly language that is already Common Core aligned!
martina Kull says
AWSOME!!! I am really organized so this would be great. Instead of flipping through papers to find the common core they are organized!! I can pull out the ones I have used then tag them with a post it note to see what I still need to cover.
Debbie Steidley says
I like your idea of tagging the ones you’ve pulled out and used, another great way to make sure every standard has been covered.
Kristen G says
I agree with almost everyone on here… the “I Can…” statements will save so much time! It will be nice not to have to worry about learning targets.
Nataile Whitney says
This kit and chart would allow me to have a handy reference for all standards and I Can statements. I could also use this for a visual reference for my students and ask them todays standards for ticket out the door.
Colleen says
We are required to have them posted in our classroom for that days lesson, would help to keep me organized
Debbie Steidley says
I love the “I can” statements on the reverse of the standard! Perfect! It would save me time because I wouldn’t have to write them out on the board anymore. I could simply pull the needed cards from the box and slide them into the pocket chart. I love how organized they are!
Lera Smith says
I would love to have these posted on the board for the kids to see. The “I Can” statements make it much easier for the kids to understand, and saves us time because they are already printed 🙂
Meredith Mitchell says
We have to display standards in our classrooms so this would save time finding the right ones to post. I like the kid-friendly wording.
Holly says
I would have easy access to the CCSS and be able to post the I Can statements more easily for my students. I am not good at trying to rewrite the objectives into simplifier terms for my third graders, so this would be much easier!
Catherine says
This is great for the parents because they need some parent friendly langaguge when explaining what their child should be able to do.
Chrissy Rene says
Love that you thought of the parents as well! I know that the “I can” statements would be helpful in communicating expectations to parents! Thanks for the idea!
Karen F. says
OH my gosh!! The I can statements would make my job soooo much easier , especially since everything is done for me in an organized way!! The kiddos obviously would be able to understand what they will be learning for the day too 🙂 I would post them on my white board for all to see
Kelly Edmonds says
Looks great but what happen to the middle school grade (6-8).
Heather says
Students benefit from seeing objectives. I love the idea that each one begins with I can! This would reduce the amount of time I have to spend typing, printing, and cutting and finding a way to display! Multiply that times each strand for the whole year, and I can only imagine the amount of time this would save!
Diane Keller says
I love these cards! These are very time saving because you can easily find the standard and display it for students to see, or in my case, administration. We are supposed to have our objectives displayed/stated – the I Can statements would be great for that.
tracy says
This would help save me time writing the objectives for each lesson taught. It only takes a second to lose the little ones attention.
Ashley Bayuk says
The Common Core sentence strips would save me time this summer becuase I wouldn’t have to type out all the standards and I CAN atatements-it will also save space in my classroom. This is a must have!
Elizabeth Carpenter says
All my standards and I can statements would be neatly organized, which is a MAJOR plus in my classroom and they’d be readily available to post each day. I love the fact that they are small and reusable!! Thanks again for a great Common Core resource 🙂
Philomena says
The CCS kit would allow me to post the standards in kid friendly language
Vickie Miller says
Penny I used my home email for giveaway tool. BUT my sign in email is my school. Will that mess me up?
Penny says
no worries Vivkie!
heather says
The I Can statements wold correlate with our science kits that ask students to write power conclusions. Having the standards at my fingertips would be so beneficial as I just finished my first year in 1
st grade.
Jenny Leik says
The kit would save so much time and allow me to get work done when I was on the go and away from the computer or my binder full o standards
Melissa Hejmanowski says
I love the “I can statements”. It makes explaining to my Kindergarten students so much easier
Sarah Chiles says
My school does not use the common core, however, the assessment we give our students, that our evaluations are based on, is based on the common core. These cards would be so valuable to me in comparing and coordinating my state standards with the common core. The “I can” statements would be amazingly helpful every day in class!
Alma Llanas says
The Common Core Kit would save me lots of time because it is already prepared for me! I wouldn’t have to write it out. It is also perfect for my “I can” centers. The objectives and centers would be connected and the language used would allow the correlation between the centers and objectives to be more obvious and friendly enough for the students to understand. I love it!!
Catherine says
We aren’t given enough time to create this stuff & this is EXACTLY what we’ve been looking for! 🙂
Laurie Fay says
We are required to have them posted in our rooms. It will save me a lot of time having them pre-printed, rather than writing or typing them out. The I-Can statements will make it easier for my students to really understand what they will be expected to do.
Ashley Bayuk says
We are required as well!
Rachel Hildebrand says
This would be helpful to have the standards at my fingertips instead of having to go through papers or google the standards. The I can statements can be put up by the flow of the day so the students know what they are expected to do for that period. The standards can also be placed on bulletin boards.
Tenae Davis says
I would love to be able to get the Common Core Standards Kit because it would allow me to focus on the teaching of the skill instead of coming up with the common language that the students can understand!
Thank you!
Lyndsay says
This would save me a ton of time from having to write them out and being able to display it would remind me and the students if our objectives.
Jodi says
The Common Core kit has everything I need in one place. It would save me tons of prep time and help me stay organized!
Nancy Lumpkin says
As a new teacher to a grade level, I’d be starting over writing standards…. This would save tons of time!!
Catherine says
I’m thinking I may need to just buy this if I don’t win. This really is GREAT!
Chrissy Rene says
I was thinking the same thing Catherine!
Brenda Mashiotta says
Good heavens to Betsy – i finally found this comment box!!!!! Almost took me the whole hour to do so! Geepers! Well this box of common core standards would save me a heck a lot of time of writing or printing them out myself! And I obviously need all the time I can get since it took me 25 minutes to find this comment box!!
Stephanie wolf says
I would use the I can cards daily with students and parents to discuss learning objectives and to revisit at the end of anlesson/unit to check for if skills were mastered. The kit will help with planning and keeping the common core language alive.
Janine says
I use I can statements in the classroom now, but I have been writing them every day. This would save me so much time!
Terri says
I love the I can statements along with the chart to hold them in – it will free up writing them daily or weekly.
Tina Sullivan says
The I can statements would be very helpful. I would be able to post these for my kindergarten students. I could then focus on teaching the skills instead of creating the statements.
Jordan says
The Common Core would save me lots of time because I teach 4 different grades in an EC classroom. Definitely simplifies things!
Mrs. Tomlinson says
I spend so much time during the summer months setting up math and literacy centers. This would save me hours of prep time. It is also meets our core standards. It’s a winner!
Laura Plunk says
This product would save me time because common core resources would be right at my fingertips. I would not have to spend time searching the web trying to dig up and create questions and activities that are aligned with the common core standards.
Jessica Parthemore says
These would save me time in creating the I can statements for the students and to display? This is required now by our evaluation system and would provide great guidance for the kids!
allison brocking says
The I Can Statements would save a lot of time so that I would not have to write the objectives for each day.
Ashley Ruge says
We are a TAP school and are required to have the standard posted in kid friendly terms and we are also expected to reference the standard. This is a great way to make sure you get both in and by having it in kid friendly terms they can read it and take ownership of the learning.
Betty says
I love the “I Can” statements!! They will definitely save time and will be easy for students to understand.
Philomena says
Timesavers are a must with all the responsibilities we have in our classrooms. I love the standards kit!

My school is incorporating common core AND MYP to become an IB school – I need all the time savers i can possibly have!!

We are now required to post objectives daily. Sometimes I struggle on how to put the standards into kid friendly “I can” statements. These would be perfect!!!!!!!!
Jeannie Howell says
The kit would save me time, because all the main subjects and categories are in 1 box and can be easily displayed as we I teach them. I would not need to go through all the text books and guess what subjects or knowledge my child should study or know at his age level. This will be my second year of home schooling and we are loving it.
Kara says
It would save me so much time because I need to post all of this in my classroom.
Mrs. Tomlinson says
This is a great concept. I love the idea of the “I Can” statements in child friendly language. This should be required in every elementary classroom. We have not received a pay increase in four years so I am indeed a penniless teacher. I hope I win.
Monica Hiatt says
I agree I can statements would save lots of time
Annette Makar says
It looks like something I could use without. Prep time.

Jennie Oosterhouse says
I love the I Can statements and it would save time because I could just pull out the standard I was using for that day and or week
Melissa Hejmanowski says
The task cards look like something I would definitely use during center time. I also liked how you did the board behind you. It is giving me ideas for next year.
Leea says
We have had NO formal training for common core, so any and all help is greatly appreciated!
Brenda Butler says
These are fabulous. The “I can” statements are great for students so they know what is expected of them. They are also an incredible time saver! Great idea.
Melissa Hejmanowski says
The thinking mats are totally awesome. I was planning on looking for file folder games for my free time math center over the summer. This would save me a lot of time and work. The mats are very colorful and student friendly.
