Amazon School List Sweepstakes

AmazonSchoolListsTeacherAppreciation5.8.15
School Lists are fast becoming a new market!  Far be it from Amazon to not be included in that new market.  And….who doesn’t go to Amazon to find something?  Amazon is usually the first stop.  The overview video sums up the program nicely……..HOWEVER…….

We like to test as many giveaways or programs in order to provide you as many details along with our opinion as possible.  We created a school and school list for Penniless Teacher.  Amazon has provided teachers with a fantastic user friendly tool making creating a list as easy as possible.

Disclaimer:  Since Penniless Teacher is not a real school, searching will not yield our list.  The only way to find our list is through the link provided by Amazon.  Click here to see our list.

Creating lists for secondary schools is a challenge, with a simple click, we selected grade 12 where Amazon presented us with a variety of seventeen appropriate products to add to our list.  Progressing down through the grades, all 9-12 lists options available contained the same 17 products, how disappointing!  In our opinion, Amazon could use LOTS of help from teachers in the creation of appropriate products making the selection quicker.

To be fair, the search option is available to locate and add specific products to a teacher list.  We searched and added a microscope and calculator to our list using this feature.  We LOVE that the search does NOT take you to a normal Amazon search results page.  Results are provided in the Teacher List application!

Amazon provides a menu of typical school supplies, pens, pencils markers, crayons, notebooks, paper, scissors, glue, and hygiene containing pre-populated items that MAY be what teachers would like to add to their school lists.

We have to say, we’re very disappointed with the grade lists and pre-populated school supplies selections!  Wa-wa!  so sad:-(  The lists provide a starting point for teachers.  We recommend using the search tool because you already know what you want to add to your list.  The search tool is a much more efficient use of your time.

Adding an item from each of the categories, we created our test school list.  One click of the Publish and Share button creates your list that is now searchable on Amazon School Lists website.  Now teachers may share their list through the unique link to your personal list.

The tiny Facebook and Twitter icons allow teachers to share the list through social media! We even sent ourselves an email just because we wanted to know what parents see and we highly suggest doing this yourselves as a test before actually sending to parents.
