$600,000 School Lunch Grant

Uttering the words “school lunch” will result in groans and various gestures of disgust.  School lunches are horrible, just ask any kid.  Every single day of my teaching career, I had lunch duty sometimes I was lucky enough to have it TWICE a day.  Looking at the lunches was enough to turn the hunger off in anyone.  Bland, frozen entree items, maybe canned fruit were required to be on the tray!  I watched those trays leave the serving line to be tossed in the trash in totality when the students left the cafeteria.  The only part of the lunch that was fresh were the baked goods, who can forget the ooey gooey cinnamon roles, the aroma of cookies and bread?

We would all like to see a more colorful healthy meal on the trays for students to enjoy!

The Chef Ann Foundation is looking for FIVE school districts who are committed to bringing healthier meals to school lunch program.  We’re talking to the tune of $600,000.  Each participating school district will receive program services valued at $120,000 provided in partnership with Life Time Foundation and Whole Kids Foundation.  Districts may be selected for a one-time $50,000 grant in addition!
