Do you remember when a telephone in the classroom was a luxury?  We’ve moved up in the world where 3D printers are the NEW step in technology.

3D Systems in collaboration with ALA and Assoc of Science and Technology Centers is offering 3D printers to museums, science centers, and libraries who join the MakerLab Club to establish access to 3D printing and design for the community.  After joining, you’re eligible to receive a donated printer.

MakerLabs/Clubs are popping up everywhere.  This is a fantastic opportunity to bring one to your school and community.  How about a collaboration with local industry to acquire the necessary items for a Maker Lab?

Applications are due by Nov 17, 2014 and printers will be shipped Dec 15, 2014

Has anyone experienced a 3D printer?  I haven’t.  Does your school have a MakerLab?  What items are available in the MakerLab?  How did you go about setting up the MakerLab?  Do you have local or national sponsors?  We would all love to hear your experiences and advise!
