Our teacher’s lounge makes a prison cell look like Martha Stewart ‘s home during a holiday! It doubles as the janitor’s closet so we’re always tripping over mops, brooms, and buckets. It has two doors–one that leads into the gymnasium and one that leads to outside. We always have to yell to hear one another because of all the basketballs bouncing in the gym or our PE teacher blowing his whistle. In the winter, we have to prop the mops and brooms up against the cracks in the door leading to outside to prevent all the cold air from coming in. It’s teeny tiny and we barely fit two round tables in it. Someone is always left standing to eat their lunch because there just isn’t enough room. BUT we love each other. We aren’t just co-workers, we are family. We have laughed together and we have cried together. (One of our teachers and her teenage daughter were murdered just four months ago inside their home). We’ve been through thick and thin so we can handle just about anything…even cold, musty, loud teacher lounges!
